What is a .CO.JP Domain?

.CO.JP is the Domain Brand of Japan and most trusted domain extension in Japan.

Used by most Japanese companies such as Sony (sony.co.jp), Toyota (toyota.co.jp), Mazda (mazda.co.jp) etc.

Used by Japanese banks such as Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (smbc.co.jp), Mizuho Bank (mizuhobank.co.jp) etc.

Also used by foreign companies which have registered Japanese companies such as Google (google.co.jp), Amazon (amazon.co.jp), Yahoo (yahoo.co.jp), McDonalds (mcdonalds.co.jp) etc.

.CO.JP domains, however, come with a Japanese company only restriction.
To register a .CO.JP domain, a company registered with the Japanese government is required.

Details of each option

.CO.JP OPTION 1: I already own a company in Japan.
(Restriction: one .co.jp domain per company)

If you own a company in Japan and would like to register a .co.jp domain; provided that you do not already have one; you may register the domain. The only document we require is your company toukibotouhon. You may fax or email your document as a PDF/image file and we will register the domain for you.

.CO.JP OPTION 2: I plan to register a company in Japan within 6 months.
(Restriction: one .co.jp domain per company)

If you do not yet have a company in Japan but are in the process of registering one and will be ready within 6 months, you may use our 6 month protection service. This allows you to fully use the domain including setting up DNS and pointing the domain to your server.

If your company is registered prior to the 6 month deadline, please send us a copy of your toukibotouhon and we will upgrade the domain to an official registration. The expiry date will automatically extend another 6 months (total 1 year).

If you need to reserve a .co.jp domain but
1) Do not have a company in Japan
